Global Air Transport Leaders Gather in Punta Cana to Discuss Security, Safety, and Sustainability at ICAO Symposium

Salvatore Sciacchitano, ICAO Council President, spoke at the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS) this year, which is ICAO’s foremost implementation support and capacity-building occasion, encouraged for air transportation’s position as a facilitator for sustainable growth. Mr. Sciacchitano asked for superior monetary and political investment to secure the protection, safekeeping and sustainability of its growth.

Mr. Sciacchitano united with Ms. Raquel Peña, the Vice President of the Dominican Republic along with Mr. Héctor Porcella, the Acting Director General of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), regarding inaugurating the conference organized by the IDAC in Punta Cana.

Mr. Sciacchitano acknowledged that they need to pledge toward a worldwide implementation support plan that confirms the ever-growing advantages of global civil aviation that are appreciated by all inhabitants internationally, irrespective of their nationality.

The yearly GISS, acknowledged as the most powerful event of its kind in the world, increases government consciousness of the vital significance of air connectivity to their planned expansion. It exhibits ICAO enterprises, programmes, strategies and facilities that can help guarantee a secure, sustainable and strong growth of their aviation segments.

With ICAO rejoicing its 80th anniversary in 2024, the association stays dedicated to its theme of ‘safe skies, sustainable future.’ Capacity development and implementation play a serious role toward attaining this idea by offering member states with the required tools, information and backing to augment their aviation structures in keeping with ICAO values and suggested practices.
