Fiji Airways to become full oneworld member – Business Traveller
Oneworld has confirmed that Fiji Airways is to become a full member of the alliance.
The carrier joined as a oneworld connect partner in late 2018, and will now transition to full member status within the next 12 months.
The alliance said that the flag carrier of Fiji and the South Pacific had been “a valuable presence” for the past five years, during which it had developed cooperative links with all member airlines, “paving its way to a more seamless integration as a full oneworld member”.
Work will commence immediately to transition Fiji Airways to full membership, with the carrier’s subsidiary Fiji Link also becoming a oneworld affiliate airline.
Fiji Airways is based at Nadi International Airport, and serves 26 destinations in 15 countries and territories. Including oneworld hubs at Sydney, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Tokyo.
Oneworld is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and Fiji Airways will become the alliance’s 15th full member, joining Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian and SriLankan Airlines.
Oman Air will also soon become a oneworld member, having announced its intentions to join the alliance in 2022.
