Emirates Airline is significantly enhancing the Hajj travel experience with the introduction of ten new flights to Jeddah and Medina, incorporating the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft. These additional flights are strategically scheduled to cater to the increasing number of pilgrims, ensuring they receive the utmost comfort and convenience on their sacred journey. By leveraging its advanced fleet and operating through Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina and King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Emirates Airline is committed to providing a seamless and luxurious travel experience, reinforcing its dedication to serving the needs of Hajj pilgrims with excellence and care.

This Hajj season, Emirates is fully prepared to accommodate the influx of pilgrims journeying from the airline’s global network through Dubai to Jeddah and Medina for the sacred Muslim pilgrimage. Emirates has meticulously enhanced every aspect of the travel experience, ensuring comfort both in the air and on the ground for pilgrims traveling to Makkah.

Additional Flights to Jeddah and Medina

To facilitate the pilgrimage, Emirates has scheduled 10 additional flights including Airbus A350 between 7 June and 10 June, and from 21 June to 26 June, catering to key markets for Hajj, including Indonesia, Thailand, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritius, South Africa, Senegal, and Pakistan. These extra flights complement Emirates’ regular services to Jeddah and Medina, providing pilgrims with increased travel options to fulfill one of Islam’s key pillars. Additionally, Emirates has arranged 19 more flights to cities such as Amman, Dammam, Kuwait, and Beirut to handle the high demand during Eid Al-Adha in mid-June.

The 2024 Hajj pilgrimage is anticipated to attract around 2,500,000 pilgrims globally. This substantial gathering will center in Makkah, emphasizing the profound effect on international travel and tourism. The event highlights the remarkable logistics required to accommodate such a diverse and extensive influx of visitors, reflecting significant advancements in travel coordination and hospitality.

Seamless Airport Experience

Upon arrival at Dubai International, Emirates extends its renowned hospitality from the sky to the ground with a meticulously planned airport experience. Dedicated teams guide pilgrims through their airport journey, ensuring a smooth connection to their onward flights. Emirates’ Airport Service teams meet, greet, and escort pilgrims from arrival to departure. Pilgrims are welcomed at the arrival gate by Emirates personnel holding special greeting signs, then escorted to the connection desk or the Emirates Hotel Desk for hotel vouchers. Emirates also provides special Hajj baggage tags for pilgrims’ luggage.

Special gifts are organized for the official UAE Hajj flight departing from Dubai on 11 June, further enhancing the travel experience.

Hajj-Centric Onboard Experience

Onboard, Emirates has made special provisions for ablutions, offering unperfumed towels and additional blankets. Special announcements alert passengers when they enter Al Miqat zones (state of sanctity) and indicate the changing of Ihram robes. Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, features a special video covering Hajj formalities, safety information, and essential pilgrimage details. Passengers can listen to the Holy Quran channel or read verses on ice for continued introspection and worship. Pilgrims can also check-in up to 5 liters of holy water (Zamzam) upon return, which will be stored in special areas in the cargo hold.

Medina and Jeddah play pivotal roles in the tourism industry during the Hajj pilgrimage. Medina, home to the Prophet’s Mosque, and Jeddah, the primary entry point for pilgrims arriving by air, see a significant influx of visitors. These cities offer unique historical and cultural experiences, enhancing their appeal as key destinations. In other report: AccuWeather and Saudi Government predictions indicate that this year’s Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah will experience exceptionally high temperatures. Officials from the National Meteorology Centre forecast average highs reaching 48ºC, which is 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius higher than usual for both Makkah and Madinah.
