Delta resumes Shannon-New York JFK service after five-year hiatus – Business Traveller
Delta has resumed service to Shannon Airport for the first time in five years.
The carrier is now operating daily summer seasonal flights between New York JFK and Shannon – the route was last served in 2019 prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Delta has also taken the decision to deploy the larger Boeing 767-300 on the route, instead of the originally planned 757-200.
Shannon Airport said that the move would add more than 3,600 seats this summer, with Delta offering around 3,000 weekly seats between the two airports and up to 46,000 seats in total over course of the seasonal service.
Schedules are as follows:
- Flight DL284 departs New York JFK at 2320, arriving into Shannon at 1050 the following day
- Flight DL285 departs Shannon at 1250, arriving into New York JFK at 1520
Shannon was in fact the first Irish airport served by Delta back in 1984 – the carrier also currently operates year-round flights between JFK and Dublin, and seasonal services from Atlanta, Boston and Minneapolis St Paul to the Irish capital.
